X-GIRLS 1994 and my own 21st century questions.

I would watch this video once a day in 2009. I could not get enough. When DAISY von FURTH says, "We're used to shopping in thrift stores, so it's like, even to us, it's like, to pay $60 for something...that's, like, the most we're ever going to pay," I just want to say, "oh gurl, me too."

Watching this now, I'm reminded of how things have really never changed in the 21st century. Looking back on the last 20 years, pop culture has seemingly repeated, and repeated, and repeated itself. Look at the style in this video. Has actually taken such little time for the runway of 1994 to hit the streets of 2012? Or are we all just blindly scraping our fingernails down the mid/late 1990s wall, in hopes to find our generation's 21st century voice/originality? What defines relevancy these days? What makes something relevant? The only viable answer is you and me and the rapidly growing nature of technology. Anyone can make anything relevant.  It feels like nothing may ever truly exist in its' truest form any longer because of the internet. Our thoughts, ideas and opinions are lumped-in with the millions of other people broadcasting the same things through social media and blogs. That feels shitty and subordinate, like nothing will ever exist in its' original truest form ever again because of the internet. But what the hey. I suppose if there are other human beings out there that I respect and feel inspired by, it's not so bleak that we are all able to find one another. Well, fuck. I'm blogging...so *yawn*. I am apart of this. I could go on and on, but will cease this rant since...I...could...literally...go...on...for...decades. blah. Let's be original together in ways that have never explored, ok? ok. thanks.

In the meantime....read this interview with Daisy von Furth.
